Deep Specialty Course
Learn to Dive Safely to Depths of up to 40m
Dive in places where only a few have explored before! Get the experience of diving on a wreck below 30 metres! To do these dives safely, you need the right skills and the right knowledge and that is exactly what deep diving provides you.
The Pro Dive Deep Diving Program
The Pro Dive Deep Specialty course teaches you the proper techniques of planning and carrying out deeper dives safely. You will learn about:
- Your Total Diving System & Deep Diving,
- Planning Your Deep Dive,
- Executing Your Deep Dive,
- Potential Hazards, and
- Repetitive Deep Diving.
During the Pro Dive Deep course you will also learn the benefits and importance of carrying and knowing how to use a redundant air source. What this means is that you will not only have the air that is in your primary cylinder but we will also teach you either to carry and use a seperate pony bottle or to dive with twin tanks.
During the course you will also gain a greater control of your buoyancy and you will learn how to safely deploy a surface marker buoy (SMB) from depth. This technique is very useful for deep diving as it aids in the communication with surface support.
Ocean Component. The course will consist of a minimum of four ocean dives undertaken over a weekend on a liveaboard dive vessel. Two dives must be between 20m - 30m and the other two must be between 30m - 40m.
Course Format
One Day plus One Weekend out on a Liveaboard (Saturday and Sunday)
Saturday | 9am - 4pm | Theory and Pool Sessions.
The first half of the day will be spent in the classroom and the second half will be in the pool. The pool is where you will learn deep diving skills such as submerged surface marker deployment, perfect buyoancy control for those crucial safety stops, and pony bottle use as a redundant air source.
Friday | 7pm | Meet at Newport Marina.
We meet on Friday night and set up our gear for the weekend on the boat. You will need to collect any hire gear prior to arriving at the boat and bring all equipment needed to complete yout dives.
Saturday | 6am - 5pm | Day 1.
We will do up to 5 dives on the first day including a night dive, with much needed meals provided by our friendly staff between dives. Course dives will be dependant on site selection and conditions. During surface intervals between dives (when you aren't eating) you are free to use your time watching dvds, sleeping, socialising, reading a book, relaxing in the sun, or whatever takes your fancy at the time.
Sunday | 6am - 4pm | Day 2.
We will do up to 3 dives on the second day and are usually back at the Marina by 4pm. Once again food will be provided between dives.
