Dive Control Specialist

Start Teaching as an Assistant Instructor.

The SSI Dive Controller program will help you to develop your diving knowledge and skills to enable you to enter the diving industry as a professional Dive Controller. The course is conducted over three consecutive weekends and combines knowledge development, watermanship skills, skill development, rescue evaluation, practical application and includes both your dive master and assistant instructor status.

As a Dive Controller you can:

• Work on dive boats, at resorts and retail stores.
• Take people diving, lead trips and tours.
• Assist Instructors in the pool and open water.
• Teach skills in the pool under the supervision of an Instructor.
• Teach the Scuba Skills update program, snorkelling program, selected Speciality courses and with additional training, the Respond Right First Aid and CPR program and Scuba Rangers, a dive club just for kids.

After your course. The Snorkel Safari Internship is an opportunity for you to put into practice all that you have learnt throughout the program by helping teach two complete open water program, with real students. This is not role playing, but a real course with fee paying clients. Your instructor will complete an evaluation on your performance and professionalism throughout the open water course you are assisting on, to enable you to assess your own skills, strengths and weaknesses.

Already a Divemaster?

If you are already a divemaster with qualifications from a recognised agency then we can teach you the extra skills needed to get you to a Dive Controller level. The cross-over program includes the assistant instructor component and is priced at $850.
