The Southern Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is the only living structure that can been seen from space and extends for 2300 kilometres. It contains over 600 continental islands, 350 coral cays and is comprised of approximately 3400 individual reefs.

The town of 1770 is lucky enough to have the Southern Great Barrier Reef on their doorstep. They are blessed with superb diving conditions on picturesque coral reefs and turquiose lagoons with hundreds of exciting wall dives, drift dives, drop-offs and swim-throughs to visit. To add to the splendor of the Great Barrier Reef, 1770 also has access to some of the best wreck dives in the area, located just offshore.

Weekend Trip Details

In 2011 we are going to 1770 over the Queen's Birthday long weekend, June 11th - 13th 2011.

The weekend will be spent playing with the marine life of the Great Barrier Reef. Typical encounters include incredible schools of pelagic fish, manta rays, turtles, reef sharks, sea snakes, moray eels and a multitude of reef fish. There will be three boat dives on Saturday and three boat dives on Sunday with lunch and afternoon tea served during the surface intervals.

Accommodation

We will be spending three nights in the luxurious beach villas at Sandcastles 1770 Resort. Each beach villa has three bedrooms, which sleeps up to six adults with king, queen, double, and single beds available. Each villa is also fully self contained with a kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and lounge areas.
