Cook Island Marine Park (Night Dive)
Whale watcher is a 50 foot stable catamaran. It features a full walk around deck and a huge undercover deck. There is comfy inside cabin with viewing as well as an upstairs viewing area with seats. It's large, stable rear deck allows for easy movement with plenty of room for all your gear. Full toilet facilities are available inside the cabin area.
Whale watcher is licensed for 30 divers making it the largest charter boat operating off The Gold Coast in the Coolangatta / Tweed Heads area. It is in service as a full NSW and QLD 1C Survey making it one of the few boats that can cross the Tweed Bar at night.
Night Dive DetailsCook Island at night comes alive. It is at night that you see the masses of Wobbegong Sharks scurrying for their food. They are normally docile during the day but at night you will see the flurry of activity.
Whale Watcher heads out to Cook Island Marine Park, a short 20 minute boat ride from Tweed Heads and is a fabulous trip all year round. Dive site to explore around Cook include the Northern Ledge, the Coral Gardens, the Caves & Tunnels, and of course, Turtle Cove.
Join us for a great evening out that is suitable for novices and experienced divers alike.
The bus for the boat departs Milton at 12.30pm. Whale Watcher leaves the jetty (Coolangatta and Tweed Heads Golf Club, Alf Rush Memorial Drive, Tweed Heads South) at 4pm. We explore two dive sites around the island and enjoy tea, coffee, and biscuits during our surface interval. The boat arrives back at the jetty around 7.30pm.
Our main dive sites are around Cook Island Marine Park as it offers some of the most diverse coral and fish life on the east coast. Diving around the island also means that no matter which way the wind is blowing we can find a nice sheltered spot to pull up on.
