The Social Club had a fantastic day at the GUN CLUB!-- 30th June 2010
Saturday 26th June we meet at Brisbane Gun Club (BGC) to learn how to shoot and hit clay targets with shotguns. The smiles on our faces and nervous laughter showed me how exited we all were.
Paul Vit, one of BGC highly qualified coaches showed us how we could one day become Olympic Champions. We were supplied with 25 cartridges, earplugs and a huge SHOT GUN.
We started with 10 "practice" shots. It was awesome to feel the weight of the shotgun, loaded with ammunition, leaning in your shoulder and then shouting PULL.
Instinct and adrenalin rushed through your veins and *BANG*.
Your balance is challenged by the force behind the shot. Then to turn around to Paul with a BIG smile and for him to say, "That was great, but next time you will nail it I'm sure. Forget about the past, you can only change the future."
After our 10 "practice" shots we had 15 targets left for the Inaugural Pro Dive shooting competition.
Everyone did extremely well. The average score was 6 hits out of 15 shots.
But alas there could only be one winner. The WINNING SCORE was 11 hits out of 15 shots. Congratulations to BRENDAN FISCHER. He won a Sharkskin Stubby holder, mouse pad, a cap from Aqualung and a black ribbon with 1st place embossed in diamonds. We celebrated with a hotdog and a cool drink, and set about planning for the next shoot out.
Thank you to everyone who turned up and for making the Gun Club Day a huge success!
Thank you to Brisbane Gun Club we had a BALL!

Annual Treasure Hunt -- 5th Mar 2010
Once again our Annual Treasure Hunt fundraising event for
Careflight was a huge success. We raised over fifty percent more than last year and will proudly present a cheque of $1500- to Careflight, a non-profit search and rescue organisation.
Despite the menacing clouds on our trip across the bay we arrived at the beautiful sunny beach, blue skies and clear water of Moreton Island. We had over 100 enthusiastic Pro Dive customers register for the Treasure Hunt and the competitiveness was fierce, but it was all for a good cause. Treasure hunters had 40 minutes to find a mug, each searching with a keen eye for the elusive number one since the lower the number on the mug the higher the value of the prize. Mug number 1 was eventually found by Trent McMahon.
Pro Dive Brisbane would like to thank all the participants in this year’s treasure hunt for making it such a huge success and for their generosity towards our chosen charity. We would also like to thank several of our partners who helped make this day including Big Cat Reality, Aquanaut, Scuba World, Ocean Cat, and Careflight.

Ladies Diving & Pamper Weekend -- 21st, 22nd Nov 2009
Last
weekend we went up to Mooloolaba for our women's pamper weekend and I would like to thank all the girls for making it such a success. On Saturday morning we had champagne breakfast with strawberries before the drive to Mooloolaba. After spending the day getting massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and exfoliations we were all very relaxed and refreshed and ready for our seafood dinner. (Mmmmm have a look at Claire's photos.) Before dinner though we decided to hit the beach to work on our tans and some bodys
urfing. We finished the night with a bit of glam and made sure we were ready for the HMAS the next morning.
On the Brisbane the next morning we had 10 knot winds and less than a
metre swell. We could not ask for better conditions! Visibility was the best I have ever seen on the HMAS and all the girls were raving about it too. (Take a look at Carola's photos.) We finished up the weekend with lunch and ice-cream at the wharf. Again thank you girls I really feel pampered and I can’t wait for the next trip.

Strike Bowling Social Night -- 6th Nov 2009
It was once again time for our annual Strike Bowling Social Night, and just as last year, it was set to be a big one. Upon arriving everyone setled in quite quickly, swapped their shoes for some sexy bowling shoes and managed to find their way to the bar. Aside from the two hours worth of FREE drinks we also enjoyed a very nice selection of mini hamburgers, fish 'n' chips, satay chicken skewers, mini hotdogs, bruschetta, and pizza. The food was amazing, and anyone who has been on a boat with me knows that I like to eat! As we were eating (and drinking) we soon realised that as divers, ten pin bowling was probably not our strongest skill. Damien ended up taking the gold, winning a FREE trip on Ocean Cat with a score of 143. After having a lot of fun attempting to bowl, we spent the rest of the night drinking, socialising, and playing pool accross three different tables.
Thanks to all who attended and made night a big success we all had a ball!
See you next year!
